Brixton Wednesdays On Wax: Youth Brigade & The Adolescents
This week we’re sharing tunes from LA punk-legends Youth Brigade & The Adolescents.
Youth Brigade was formed by three brothers: Mark, Adam and Shawn Stern in 1980 during the rise of the punk scene in Southern California. Their popularity around LA and Orange County was almost instant and they headed out on a 30-city North American tour in 1982 with their friends Social Distortion, Adam Small & Peter Stuart who documented the tour and ended up making the classic punk-doc Another State Of Mind. How three brothers managed to work together for upwards of 30 years is pretty impressive, here’s a couple off their last full-length to date:
“Spies For Life”
“What She Said” (The Smiths Cover)
We recently picked up this re-release of The Adolescents first and most-notable record, although the recent release of their early demos is pretty amazing.. They were also formed in 1980, when Steve Soto left Agent Orange and teamed up with Tony Cadena. Honestly, picking a couple songs off this record to share was pretty difficult considering all of them are near-perfect.
“Kids Of The Black Hole”
