Brixton Wednesdays On Wax: CoCoComa & River City Tanlines
River City Tanlines – All 7 Inches Plus 2 More
This female-fronted three-piece literally blew me away and also managed to steal my heart as well… The Tanlines hail from Memphis, headed by Alicja Trout who’s played alongside Jay Reatard, Ryan Wong & even members from the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. There’s been compared to the Runaways and Girlschool but they are definitely doing their own thing and undoubtedly helping to keep Memphis punk alive. Just have a listen…

CoCoComa – Spectrum Of Sound
Although CoCoComa didn’t play this year’s event, they’ve made their mark in Memphis. When I walked into the actual Goner Record Store, this was one of the first albums I saw and I knew I had to pick it up. A friend of mine told me how he’d seen them awhile back in LA and it was nothing short of amazing; heavy garage riffs, hypnotic organs and the drummer on vocals. I don’t want to say this is my favorite purchase of the trip, but it might be… Here’s a couple of their rarities collection Spectrum Of Sound.
