Brixton Wednesdays on Wax: The Stranglers & White Mystery

  • Posted on: September 12, 2012

This week we’re featuring UK punk/new wave legends The Stranglers and Chicago’s brother-sister duo White Mystery.

The Stranglers - La Folie
I can’t remember the first time I heard “Golden Brown”, or the first time I heard The Stranglers… But I was reminded how much I dug that song after seeing the movie Snatch, and I immediately had to go grab the album. La Folie is a rad listen and it really displays the bands unique approach of genre-hopping, from their punk & new wave roots to “Golden Brown”s harpsichord driven ballad. Enjoy. -Jake Tauriainen

White Mystery - Blood & Venom
We decided to feature White Mystery‘s newest album in honor of their upcoming performance at this year’s Gonerfest, an annual garage/punk/rock/country music festival in Memphis. The brother-sister duo from Chicago formed their band in 2008 and has since been making waves with their high-octane performances and gritty, but catchy songs. If you’re going to be close to Memphis  Sep 27th-30th, be sure to attend at least one day of Gonerfest 9!
