Brixton Wednesdays on Wax: David Axlerod and The Electric Prunes

This week we had our friend Vaz (DJ Nasty Vaz TCK) take the reins once again and pick out some great tunes from legendary composer David Axelrod who’s been sampled by dozens of hip hop artists from Wu-Tang to Lil Wayne. Check out Vaz’s podcast HERE, featuring Funk, Soul, Jazz and rare Hip Hop.

David Axelrod was one of the most undeniably influential composers and producers of music through the 60′s and 70′s. He has worked with artists in all genres of music. From the soulful pipes of Lou Rawls, the jazz brilliance of Cannonball Adderley, to the psychedelic rockers The Electric Prunes. He marinated, spiced and sautéed music like a culinary messiah. His solo projects where considered works of a GOD. His music is as infectious and consuming as any modern day religion. Peep the scientology.. Through the 90′s rap producers became followers of his flock. Heres a sample of two of his devine works.. hallelujah holla back!
