An Afternoon With Walter “Bud” Wright

1

A couple of days ago we had the great privilege of spending the afternoon with San Diego local Mr. Walter “Bud” Wright. After a couple of beers and some amazing stories, Bud let us explore his garage and snap a few photographs.

Below are some photos from Mr. Wrights life as a commercial illustrator/artist and motorcycle enthusiast. Bud actually designed the Bell Helmet logo still used to this day.

Bud raced in the Catalina races and was one of the originals who went down and plotted the first course for the Baja 500.

We would like to thank Bud for the opportunity to come by. Hopefully this will not be the last visit to his garage.

I grew up in Encinitas and was very good friends with the Wright family. Although I haven’t seen them in a long, long time, I think about Wally and Peg a lot. I feel a trip to Leucadia coming for me and Linda in the very near future to stop by and say hi. Wally, if you read this, please say hi to everyone for us and we hope to see you soon.
